Late medieval style personal diptych

roll your mouse over the thumbnails to see an enlarged image.

The following images are of a personal diptych in the late medieval style - a collaboration between myself and Mark Barrett.

This personal diptych was painted by Mark Barrett, using the medieval glaze technique. Each panel is gessoed oak, and the paints use only the colours available at the time. St. Andrew is after Memlin, while Mary is after Van der Goes.

The back is also painted, as it will be seen when in use. The braids holding the two halves are silk and gold, whilst the embroidered bag to protect the diptych has been worked using silk and gold threads.
