Deventer ribbon, circa 1370

This very fine silk brocaded ribbon is to trim a hood.

It is based on a ribbon recovered in Deventer, Belgium, circa 1370.

There is no analysis of the braid itself, except to state that it was silk. The client wished for a brocade with metallic thread, base on the pattern of the original.
