Tudor style dagger tassel

roll your mouse over the thumbnails to see an enlarged image.

This silk and gold thread dagger tassel is based on one depicted in a portrait of Edward VI (circa 1540).

The skirt of the tassel is made of many smaller tassels joined together. The head is covered in a real gold thread fingerloop braid which has been knotted into a turks head knot.

This tassel is part of a complete costume made by Ninya Mikhaila for the Tower of London; the costume is to be used for education sessions, to be worn by children aged 10-12. You can see the full costume here.
