Shield tasselroll your mouse over the thumbnails to see an enlarged image. This tassel was created to cover the sharp point of a 19th century shield (for decorative purposes). The tassel is based on an engraving of a purse tassel from 'Treasures in Needlework, Mrs Warren & Mrs Pullan' 1870. The cork which covers the point has been covered with linen and embroidered. The tassel and 'spikes' are also linen, the chevron area worked over wooden bead, with the addition of two uncovered wooden beads to balance the design. |
