International Medieval Congress 2010 Posted on: 27/06/10 at 09:41:14 GMT
This year Soper Lane are running a tablet weaving workshop on the afternoon of Sunday 11th July, just before the Congress proper opens. We will also have a stand at the Societies Fair again this year (on the Wednesday afternoon) and Elizabeth will be around the Congress until the Thursday afternoon.
If any site members are going to be at the Congress do get in touch.

That sounds great but at the minute I don't think I can make the workshop.
Do you do workshops elsewhere? I am learning to tablet weave at the minute and also wish to learn how to make hair nets so a few pointers would be useful!
Best wishes, I hope it all goes well for you.

Yes we can do workshops. Apart from at the IMC, we tend to be in the Leicstershire area.
Thanks. I'm not presenting a paper at IMC this year so it should be a very relaxing Congress this time.

Yesterday's workshop was good fun - a great bunch of people there.
We have a stand at Wednesday's Societies Fair, so if anyone is at the Congress on Wednesday do come along and say "hello".

A textiles day today at the IMC for me.
Both the DISTAFF sessions were today, with papers from Alexandra Lester-Makin, Michael John Lewis, Anna Cordelia Henderson, Valija Evalds and Anne Reaves.

A good afternoon at the Societies Fair yesterday - followed by a sociable evening.
The Congress is nearly over now and it has been another good year.

I am now home after a very good Congress.
Discussing the Congress with someone at lunch today (someone who was at the SL sponsored session the year before last) we agreed that, for both of us this year, the networking was the most important part of the Congress.
It was good to meet with people- both new contacts and established ones. Looking forward to working with some of them over the next couple of years.
